| The Virginia Department of Education’s I’m Determined project in conjunction with the Virginia Transition Forum invites applications for sponsorship to the Third Annual Self-Determination Youth Summit at the Virginia Transition Forum in Roanoke, Virginia. Youth with disabilities from across the Commonwealth will meet to identify ways to become better advocates and lead more self-determined lives. In addition, Youth Summit participants will have the opportunity to attend Transition Forum workshops specific to their needs and interests. The selected individuals and a parent/guardian will receive paid registration, hotel accommodations, travel expenses and meal reimbursements for the three day event. There will also be a Parent Summit for the selected participant’s parent/guardian to attend. The Youth Summit will start on Monday, March 15, with a luncheon and gathering at noon and will end on Tuesday, March 16, at 2:45 pm. Youth and parents are encouraged to stay for the remainder of the Transition Forum through Wednesday at noon. More detailed information regarding the Youth Summit and concurrent Parent Summit will be provided upon acceptance of the youth. Deadline for submission of applications is Friday, December 11, 2009. Selected youth will be notified by Friday, January 15, 2010.
